Tasteful boudoir photography ... for the Sassy Babe in you❣️
Hi! I'm Jo-Ann Brown and as the Owner/Principal Photographer of Sass & Class Studios, I've been fortunate to harness a corporate background into my photography business.
So many clients come to me thinking it’s their job to “look good.” But that’s not how it is when you walk into my studio. It’s my job to make you look good - you get to relax. It’s hard to be yourself in a new space, but my entire career has been about making people feel at ease and get exactly what they want. When you’re at ease, you look good. Combined with expert knowledge of how to use a camera and gently guide people through natural poses, you get “oh wow, I didn’t know I could look like that” shots, every time. Tremendous planning and care goes into each session, and you can count on a professional experience from start to finish.
We all recognize that it’s hard to be yourself in a new space, but my entire career has been about making people feel at ease and get exactly what they want. You don’t normally think of conversation as a photography superpower. But let me tell you, it’s one I use just as often as I use my camera.
Whether it was my first job as a waitress where return customers requested to sit in my section, up through my 25+ years of HR work where I was responsible for quickly understanding what thousands of employees wanted and needed - I became an expert in asking the right questions and setting people at ease.
We are a luxury boudoir photography studio for women wanting to celebrate body positive and life changing moments. Our goal is to show that boudoir is for ALL women, regardless of age, body size, levels of confidence, or whatever it is that life has thrown your way. Boudoir photography is about self-acceptance, body positivity, and art. It is about getting glammed up and laughing your butt off. It’s about the transformation that takes place between the time you walk in our studio and walk back out that door. It is about feeling beautiful, and that is something we believe every woman deserves.
So tell me, what kind of photos are you hoping for? Click here to let me know, and we’ll make it happen!
So far, I have lived in all four western provinces of Canada:
British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba
I have travelled to three other provinces::
Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick,
Still to see? 6 more!
Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island,
plus Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut
I once rode a 12-speed bicycle from Vancouver, British Columbia
to Santa Rosa, California (approx 55 miles NE of San Francisco).
I was not a long distance cyclist by any stretch of the imagination
— heck, I wasn't even a regular cyclist —
but I made the trip in 2 weeks... a total of 866 miles. OY!
I love to travel and have had the good fortune of being able to see many different cities and countries. So far I've been to 22 countries, some of them multiple times... which is only 8.8% of the world,
So clearly I still have a lot of travelling to do!
I am French-Canadian by birth, with my ancestry originating in France. Although both sides of my parents' families speak French fluently, my parents wanted their kids to learn the English language and so that's all we spoke at home. Despite taking French all the way through to Gr. 10, my speaking skills are very rudimentary.
... just ask my French-speaking cousins! LoL 🤣
I was 12 years old when I got my very own camera. For years I'd watched how my mother would document our family activities, trips back East as we visited our relatives, and road trips within Canada and the USA — all with her camera.
I still remember that Kodak Brownie she used, with a flash that could blind you instantly!
I learned at an early age the value of capturing memories on film
... a love I now share with my clients.
